A Drone in the Wind

March 27, 2022

Photographer Little Rock, business portraits or headshots, seniors,  children, real estate photos, and family portraits are very popular at the studio. I had a real estate listing to photograph out in the country, south of town, early last week. It was the second session of the day, this one involved drone photos, and it was very windy. The wind had all the flags and signs fully extended and flapping furiously due to the stiff breeze. The sky was pretty, with a scattering of white puffy clouds racing across the azure sky as if they were aware of the storm front moving in from the south. The preponderance of clouds created a charming light ideal for real estate photography. This soft light allows for details in the shadows and keeps the lens flair down to a minimum. I can, when needed, shade the lens with my hand to control lens flair, which creates the annoying streaks of light in the photos. However, with drone photos are not possible, so a day featuring diffused light is very desirable. I always like to start with drone photos because I am looking forward to being done with those photos after successfully avoiding powerlines and trees. This property had few trees except around the property line, so that was not a problem. The wind continued to accelerate in velocity. I like to launch during a moment of little or no wind, which was hard to find, but I managed each time without a tragedy.
