Unlearning many Things

February 9, 2021

We are open and safely making our real estate photos, family, child-baby, senior, and our business portraits or headshots in our west Little Rock studio.  During this cold slow period, we give a lot of thought to the coming year with the warm sunlight just a few weeks away we are looking forward to a year of growth and rebuilding.

Recently during a photo session for my newest granddaughter, my daughter challenged me to take the camera off the camera stand and explore some different angles.  Well, I come from a time in photography that hand holding a professional portrait camera was not feasible.  The bulk and weight of the portrait camera made it impossible to quickly focus and frame much of anything worth shooting.  My camera stand has and always will be one of the most used pieces of equipment here at the studio, it allows me to raise and lower the camera much more quickly than a tripod.  My young competitors like to travel light usually without the support of even a small tripod. So, I detached the camera and being careful to keep it connected to the studio WIFI which allows the client to see the photos I'm making I was off the new angles and perspectives.  Laying on the floor has its challenges as do my not-so-new knees, however, I was able to keep up with my thirty-something daughter.  Recently I have left a pro camera at home to capture some truly candid moments.
