Fall and New Beginnings

September 12, 2021

Last week was slower since school has started but we still did our real estate photos, senior portrait, business portraits, headshots, child and family portraits.

The start of school always makes it seem cooler. As the days shorten the sun starts to lose its gripe and the blistering temperatures of August start to be replaced with the seventies and eighties. Every once in a while you can see a hint of fall colors in the trees.  Fall always seems to be a time of new beginnings, of learning and trying new things. For someone my age being open to new ideas and procedures is important.  I had recently bought a new camera, the first new camera in many years.  I usually prefer a good quality, proven used camera to save some money instead of the newest unit just arriving on the market.  Even now I chose the Nikon Z 5, not the newest Z 7.  This is my first professional mirrorless camera.  I had seen the photos produced by my assistant photographer at recent graduation, I could read the names of the graduates on the sticker on the back of the diploma. This clarity impressed me and I started to shop for a professional mirrorless camera. When I go on location to shoot I like to have two cameras, a primary and a backup.  I dislike taking the studio camera off the camera stand and using it as the backup, I prefer to leave it there ready to go.
