This is the time of year to get out and see the sights and watch the fall colors cascade into wonderful expressions of the season. My wife and I recently planned our thirty-eighth wedding anniversary celebration with a brief trip to Mt. Magazine which is the highest place in Arkansas and is almost always ten degrees cooler at the top than the bottom. I brought a camera and my drone to take advantage of the beautiful fall colors. Our first stop was the Maumelle Sailing Club which was experiencing a quiet Sunday morning. The sailboats were all lined up in the winter their slots with reds and yellows from the far bank framing the blue lake. There were few if any other people there so I went about making my photos in peace and serenity.
Our next stop was the Weinkeller Restaurant in Altus, Arkansas. This establishment has been going since the 1880s as part of the local wine/vineyard industry in the form of a wine cellar and restaurant. I ordered a steak and my wife wanted the shrimp which she found very satisfying and my entre was tender and delicious.
We then continued to Mt Magazine State Park Lodge for the evening. The lodge hangs on the side of the mountain with a tremendous view of the Ouachita Mountains as they extend to the horizon.
