Springtime Castles

I enjoyed touring Ireland and wandering through many castles now in ruins and wondering how they must have looked in their prime. The wooden roofs and floors would be gone in most cases, but the massive stone walls were as strong as ever. What events happened here? How many generations matured within the walls and grounds of this castle. What caused it to fall into such a state as the one I found it in.
I look forward to exploring more locations in Europe after my wife retires and we have more time for travel. So, castle photography is not something I get to do regularly until recently. A real estate agent contacted me to photograph a potential property listing: a castle, and it even has a draw bridge. This castle was about one hundred years old and set on a beautiful tract of land featuring the main house, barn, and guest house. The large landscaped pool area creates a most inviting respite from any stress you may have. The house has broad wood plank floors that have only improved with their many years. I'm sure tears have fallen there, and drinks spilled celebrating happy times. The castle has been used recently as an event center hosting wedding and corporate events. A large concrete pad works with a tent to provide great space for outdoor entertainment. The basement looks like a cave.
